FACTUAL RECOUNT
THE MISSING PLANE
QZ8501
an Air Asia airplane went missing with 162 passengers, 12 crews and two pilots on
28 December 2024 after suffering cabin damage
probably caused by a sudden change in air pressure. The tragic Air Asia
flight exploded before it fell into the sea.
Air
Asia as one of the safest low cost carriers is one of the airplane companies
that provide international flights to and from Indonesia. The tragedy happened
during frightening weather. It was a flight from Surabaya to Singapore.
According to Indonesia officials, the pilot requested permission to turn and
climb to a higher altitude to avoid it. But suddenly the plane lost contact
with the traffic control less than halfway into a two of hour flight.
Australian
aviation expert Ron Bartsch assumed that the missing commercial passenger jet
would influence passengers’ decision in choosing airlines. Ron Bartsch stated,
“That will be a consideration people take into account when they are
considering air travel”.
MEETING TOURISTS IN MALIOBORO
Just before Christmas last year, many people were
on holiday in Yogyakarta. One of them is tourists from various countries to
experience the beauty of Indonesia.
At that
time, several friends and I were hunting for snacks around Jalan Malioboro. The
place was packed with visitors and a bit noisy. Coupled with the hot weather,
we finally decided to buy iced tea at the seller's place. When we approached
it, we saw that there were tourists who wanted to buy too but had difficulty
speaking. So, my friend finally helped them order drinks. We all enjoyed drinks
at that time. Don't forget to take a photo together to immortalize the moment.
Suddenly the tourist was called by his friend to
immediately go home. We also take it to its destination. Finally we separated
there, and immediately returned to our respective places.
A MEMORABLE CHOIR COMPETITION IN THAILAND
Last year, my school choir team and I had an unforgettable opportunity
to participate in an international choir competition held in Bangkok, Thailand.
It was a thrilling experience that I will always cherish.
We began our journey with rigorous training and rehearsals in our
school for months. Under the guidance of our dedicated choir master, we
improved our vocal abilities and learned a wide range of songs in various
languages, including a beautiful traditional Thai song.
Upon arriving in Bangkok, we were captivated by the city’s vibrant
culture nd welcoming people. Despite the nerves, we managed to enjoy
sightseeing and tasting delicious Thai cuisine.
The competition day was intense. Choirs from various countries
showcased their talent, and the level of competition was high. The grand
auditorium was filled with anticipation and the harmonious melodies of
different songs echoed throughout the room.
When it was our turn, I remember feeling a mix of excitement and
nervousness. We walked on the stage, took a deep breath, and began to sing. Our
voices soared through the auditorium, harmonizing and hitting every note
perfectly. The Thai song we had practiced so diligently was met with applause
and appreciation from the audience.
Although we didn’t win the first prize, the experience was rewarding.
We received commendable feedback from the judges and a thunderous applause from
the audience. The trip taught us about teamwork, resilience, and the beauty of
music that transcends language barriers. Participating in the choir competition
in Thailand was truly a memorable experience.
EMPOWERING UNDERPRIVILEGED CHILDREN THROUGH TECHNOLOGY ON CHILDREN’S
DAY 1999
On Children’s Day in 1999, a technology company treated more than 200
underprivileged children to a ‘high-tech’ experience. They were given training
on information technology. The company wanted to provide opportunities for
these children to learn more about the Internet and the latest technology. They
wanted to help the less fortunate in the community.
The children had an enjoyable and educational experience that day. They
were exposed to the new technology for the first time and they were very
interested. The company hoped to conduct many more such training sessions for these
children. They felt that the skills the children had would be useful to them
when they grew up.
The company was very active in caring for the less fortunate. They even
put aside one day a year for their employees to do volunteer work to help the
needy. They also donated money to many charitable organizations. Many people
had benefited from their efforts. Many also praised the company for being so
generous towards the needy.
A TOTAL SOLAR ECLIPSE
On November
5th, 2023, a total solar eclipse occurred over several parts of South America.
This rare astronomical event was visible in regions of Chile and Argentina. The
eclipse began at 10:00 AM local time and reached its peak totality at 11:30 AM,
lasting for approximately 2 minutes.
Thousands of people gathered at designated viewing
spots to witness this spectacular natural phenomenon. Scientists and astronomy
enthusiasts had been preparing for this event for months, and they set up
telescopes and observation equipment to study the eclipse's effects on the
surrounding environment.
During the eclipse, the moon completely blocked
the sun, casting a shadow over the landscape and causing a noticeable drop in
temperature. Birds and wildlife became momentarily disoriented, and the sudden
darkness created a surreal atmosphere.
Observers marveled at the corona, the sun's outer
atmosphere, which became visible during totality. It was an awe-inspiring
moment for all those in attendance, and many people captured the eclipse
through photography and video recordings.
The event concluded as the moon continued its
path, gradually revealing the sun. Scientists collected valuable data, and the
general public experienced a rare and memorable celestial event.
The next total solar eclipse in this region is expected in several years, making this event a remarkable and scientifically significant occurrence
ASIAN-AFRICAN STUDENT CONFERENCE IN BANDUNG
Experienced of Participating in an Event I had the
best experience of my life in 2015. I participated in Asian-African Student
Conference in Bandung. I was interested in Asian-African Conference history and
dreamed to be a part of it. I prepared an essay and idea to be presented at
that event. The other participants also helped me and gave me some idea for our
committee discussion. I didn't talk too much, but it was a good experience for
me.
THE EARTHQUAKE
The day when I went home from office was
a terrible day. I was driving along the coast road when the car suddenly lurched
to one side.
At first I thought a tire had gone but then I saw
telegraph poles collapsing like matchsticks which flashed and burnt.
The rocks that tumbled across the road almost hit
my car and I tried to abandon it. When I got back to town where many people
crowded on the road, I saw some houses collapsed, the bridge had a crack, and
the people said that the earthquake happened a few minutes ago.
Fortunately, the earthquake did not collapse my
home. I thanked God happily because my wife and children were safe.
